STERLING – Richard Joyce, 72, of Worcester Road, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, in the Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Joan B. (Cromack) Joyce; two sons, Derrick J. Joyce of Piney Flats, Tennessee and Darrell “Beau” J. Joyce and his wife Krista of Westminster; a daughter, Deborah A. Jepson and her husband Thomas of Spencer; a brother, Billy Joyce of Clinton; five grandchildren, Chris, Sam, Erisa, Taylor and Caylin; and his beloved dog “Inkie”.
Richard was born in Clinton the son of Michael J. and Verna F. (LaBombard) Joyce and lived in Lancaster before moving to Sterling 45 years ago. He was a part-time groundskeeper at The International Golf Course in Bolton at the time of his death. He also worked in the shipping and receiving department at Norton Company in Worcester for 26 years before retiring in 2000.
A private funeral service for Mr. Joyce will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Chance Fund for Animal Welfare, P.O. Box 118, Bolton, MA 01740 (
