Josephine D. Ziegler, 82, of Norwood, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023. Prior to moving to Norwood to be closer to family, she had been a resident of Holden, MA for over 45 years and a long-time member of St. George's Parish.
She leaves her three sons, Paul E. of Needham, MA, Drs. Christopher J. and wife Mayumi K. of Copley, OH, Justin M. and Mara L. of Medfield, MA; one daughter, Anne Ziegler Krakow and her husband Jonah T. of Merion Station, PA; grandchildren, Marina C. and Elena A. Ziegler, Julia K. and Josephine P. Krakow, Elizabeth D. and Luke M. Ziegler; her sisters Joan, Irene and Mary; her brother Henry; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her husband, Paul R. Ziegler predeceased her.
In addition to being a devoted mother, Josephine served as a special education teacher for over 30 years, primarily working in the Wachusett Regional School District. She received her A.B. degree from Seton Hall University and her M.A. degree in Education from Assumption College.
Josephine was born in Newark, NJ, into a large family with six sisters and four brothers. Later, as a teenager, her family moved to Maplewood, where she met her next door neighbor, Paul. That was the first step toward a marriage of 44 years. In 1967, Jo and Paul made their home on Holden, when Paul began his career teaching at Assumption College. She was an avid reader, gardener and traveler.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 9 - 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. George's Parish, 30 Brattle Street, Worcester, followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Massachusetts Easter Seals Society,
