Joseph W. Lapointe

May 31, 1947 — August 29, 2013

TOWNSEND – Joseph “Joe” W. LaPointe, 66, of Main St., died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island and raised in South Attleboro, Joe was the son of William J. and Eliza (Levesque) LaPointe and lived 39 years in Townsend.



He leaves his two daughters, Dawn M. Hartnett and her husband Jay of Sterling and Wendy E. Lonstein and her husband Kenneth of Boylston; and six beloved grandchildren, Nolan and Henry Lonstein, Molly, Seamus, Fiona and Colin Hartnett.



Joe graduated from South Attleboro High School and later worked many years as a computer programmer. After graduating high school, Joe honorably served his country in Vietnam with the RA SIG Division of the United States Army. He was an avid golfer and for many years organized the Men’s Golf League at Maplewood Golf Course in Lunenburg. He enjoyed fishing, photography and spending time with his grandchildren.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral service honoring Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, at the funeral home, followed by military honors at Pine Grove Cemetery, Scar Hill Road, Boylston where Joe will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lunenburg Men’s Golf League, Attn: John Aho, 499 Reservoir Street, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
