WORCESTER/JUPITER, FL - Joseph R. LaCroix, 85, of Worcester and Jupiter, FL, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, May 2, 2024, in Jupiter with his family by his side.
He was born in Worcester in 1939, son of the late Raymond J. and Catherine (LaBrague) LaCroix. He was a proud graduate of Assumption Preparatory School. He attended Assumption College and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Worcester State College. He was a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools for twenty-five years before realizing his dream of owning his own business.
Joseph was an avid golfer and an active member of the Worcester Country Club where he especially enjoyed Thursday night dinners with his friends. He spent many an afternoon with friends at the Worcester Athletic Club. Joseph always had a project in the works. He loved the planning involved and was meticulous in the detail. This was especially evident when it came to two of his great passions: woodworking and landscaping. In recent years he enjoyed daily walks and morning swims in the pool. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He was married to Lois E. (Lien) for 58 years. Together they raised their family in Holden where they lived for 41 years. More recently, they have been splitting their time between Worcester and Jupiter, FL.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Lois; his daughters, Kristin LaCroix of Boston and Marianne Doyle and her husband, James of Freeport, ME; his grandchildren, Thomas and Caroline Doyle of Freeport, ME; his sister, Dale DiPierro of Harwich; his brother, John LaCroix and his wife, Joan of Leicester; his sister-in-law, Nancy Fitz-Gerald of Baltimore, MD; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Barry LaCroix.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14th at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester, followed by a burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
