Joseph M. Kowaleski, Jr., 65, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 7, 2022. Born and raised in Worcester, he was a son of Irene (Ostaszewski) Kowaleski and the late Joseph Kowaleski, Sr.
After graduating from Burncoat Senior High School, Joe went on to enjoy a long career as a butcher and seafood manager at the Big Y Supermarkets. Joe enjoyed playing cribbage, pitch, darts, and every so often a game of golf. He enjoyed his morning coffee while reading the daily paper. In recent years, he loved walking at Rutland State Park and the Wachusett Reservoir. Joe’s true passion was fishing, especially on the waters of Lake Sebago, Lake George, Lake Ontario, and Cape Cod. Joe was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching all the New England sports teams.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his mother, Irene Kowaleski of Paxton; his brother, James Kowaleski of Sterling, NY; three sisters, Janet Carboni and her husband, Paul of Milford, Christine Comeau and her husband, James of Bonita Springs, FL, and Jennifer Hehir and her husband, Mark of Paxton, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, John Kowaleski in 2016.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Joe’s family from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 19 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife.
