Holden – Joseph A. Kalinowski, 70, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 7, 2022. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Edward P. and Gladys T. (Jakubowicz) Kalinowski and had lived in Holden since 1978.
Joseph grew up in the Vernon Hill neighborhood of Worcester and was raised in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He graduated from Saint Mary’s High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree and Master of Business Administration from WPI. While attending WPI Joseph became a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, forging friendships that he would enjoy for the remainder of his life. Joseph later worked as a Financial Analyst for the former Norton Co., now Saint Gobain Co. for nearly 40 years. Recently he had attended St. George Church in Worcester.
Joseph was a gifted athlete and played soccer and basketball during his high school and college years. He was President of Holden Youth Soccer for many years and enjoyed coaching multiple sports. Joseph was a keen traveler and had made several memorable trips to China, Europe and South America. He spent some of his most cherished times with his family on the shores of Lake Chaubunagungamaug. He was an avid reader, proponent of lifelong learning, and enjoyed spending time golfing and fishing. Above all he was a devoted father and grandfather.
Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph A. Kalinowski II and his wife, Tara of Holden and Adam J. Kalinowski of Holden; his brothers, Edward Kalinowski of Carmel, IN, Paul Kalinowski and his wife, Susan of Boylston, John Kalinowski of Webster, Richard Kalinowski of Whitinsville and; his sisters, Marcia Rojcewicz and her husband, Richard of Grafton and Christine Belsito and her husband, Raymond of Petersham; his grandchildren, John and Andrew Kalinowski; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
