RUTLAND – Joseph “Joe” P. Katinas, 78, of Lewis Street, died Monday, June 25, 2007 in St. Vincent’s Hospital after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Joan K. (Rocheford) Katinas, a son, David J. Katinas and his wife Cheryl of Rutland; a daughter, Kathleen J. (Katinas) Jankowski and her husband John of Rutland; a brother, Paul Katinas and his wife Helen of Worcester; a sister, Julia Graves of Millbury; his six loving grandchildren, Joseph, Jenna, Jordan Katinas and Kyle, Marissa, Ashley Jankowski; many nephews, nieces and friends with fondness. A sister, Helen “Kitty” Knapik predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Monika (Lukauskute) Katinas and lived four years in Rutland and 11 years in Pompano Beach, FL.
Joe attended Worcester Schools and proudly served in the Army at the end of World War II. He loved sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. His favorite hobbies were fishing and “puttering” in his yard. He belonged to the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale and enjoyed trips with the group. He worked for 40 years as a molder at Norton Co. in Worcester, retiring in 1990.
The funeral for Joe will be held on Friday, June 29th, his 79th birthday, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street(Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28th.
