Joseph G. Chilleri

April 25, 1932 — January 17, 2006

HOLDEN – Joseph G. Chilleri, 73, of 97 Paugus Road, passed away Tuesday evening, January 17, 2006, in Clark Manor Healthcare Center, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves his wife, Gladys (Berry) Chilleri; a stepdaughter, Carole Keratsis and her husband Charles of Holden; a stepson, Nicola Narcisi and his wife Andrea of Leicester; a granddaughter, Dina and her husband Keith Harris of East Somerville; and three grandsons, John Keratsis of Holden, Jonathan and Anthony Narcisi of Leicester; a brother, James Chilleri and his wife Eileen of Barre and Florida; and a sister, Catherine Staiti and her husband Anthony of Barre; several nieces and nephews. His sister, Rose Desjardins and his brother, Andrew Chilleri predeceased him.

Mr. Chilleri was born in Worcester, son of the late Domenic and Josephine (Giarusso) Chilleri. He graduated from Barre High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the George L. Thorng American Legion Post 404 in South Barre

Mr. Chilleri was employed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Hospital and retired in 1999. Previously, he was employed at Thrifty Markets in Gardner and Barre. He was a member of St. George’s Church.

The funeral for Mr. Chilleri will be held on Saturday, January 21, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1325 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the George L. Thorng American Legion Post 404, Scholarship Fund, Valley Road, South Barre, MA 01074.
