UXBRIDGE– Joseph Paul DiSilvestri, 67, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at UMass Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Campus after an illness. He leaves his mother and step-father, Linda M. DiSilvestri Bauman and Steven D. Bauman. He lived most of his life in Holden and Rutland before moving to Uxbridge in 2010.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert D. DiSilvestri of Attleboro and David A. DiSilvestri and his wife, Kathy, of Millville; his sisters, Carolyn W. DiSilvestri of Hudson, Linda M. Basinsky of South Yarmouth, Lisa A. Drennan of Westminster, Sheila E. Leonard and her husband, Dennis, of North Brookfield and Caroline J. Caro and her husband, Isel, of King George, VA; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph J. DiSilvestri, and his brother, Paul C. Disilvestri.
Joseph graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970. He served as an SP4 during the Vietnam War for two years, before being honorably discharged in 1972. Whether he was helping family or neighbors, or working at various companies, Joe loved to work. He worked as an auto mechanic in his younger years, and went on to work as a route salesman for Pepsi Cola in Holden for many years. He also worked for Flagg RV in West Boylston and Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northbridge before retiring in 2016. He was a member of St. George’s Church and enjoyed fixing cars, camping, hiking, fishing, gardening, and “Fire Pit Football” with his family. He also loved family vacations at Cape Cod and Hampton Beach.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 14th at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1302 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Health Care Center, Attention Michele Flamand, 39 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610;
