Shrewsbury, MA – Joseph G. Ausanka, 75, of Shrewsbury, beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Patykowski) Ausanka, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
Born in New Britain, CT, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Miezlaiskis) Ausanka. He was raised in Simsbury, CT, and graduated from Simsbury High School in 1967, where he was recognized as a top student. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) to pursue Engineering, becoming an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity. While attending WPI he met Liz, the love of his life, and together they settled in the Worcester area where Joe remained his entire life.
After WPI, Joe began his professional career in financial services at State Mutual Insurance in Worcester. He was a CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and member of the Million Dollar Round Table, serving his clients for 30 years before transitioning to Lincoln Financial Group and then into retirement. In his free time, Joe was an avid sports fan. He never missed a Yankees game, reveled in the Patriots’ dynasty and was an enthusiastic manager of many a Fantasy Football team. He continued being an active member and mentor in the ATO fraternity.
Along with his wife, Joe leaves his daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Ausanka Kelly, and her husband, Michael, of Rutland, MA; his son, Justin Ausanka, and his wife, Victoria, of Titusville, FL; his sisters, Joellyn Ausanka of New York City and Jacqueline Ausanka Ball of Seattle; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Rose, and Fiona Kelly, and Hailey Ausanka. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
