Jonina D. (Ptasnik) Tetrault

Rutland – JoNina D. (Ptasnik) Tetrault, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, Worcester. Born in Brooklyn, NY, JoNina was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Zytynski) Ptasnik and was raised in Brooklyn, NY.
JoNina earned a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and later earned a degree in nursing from Becker College. Her unwavering dedication to helping others led her to begin her career as an elementary school teacher, where she nurtured young minds with kindness and care. Later, she transitioned to nursing, fulfilling her true calling in healthcare. Upon relocating to central Massachusetts, JoNina served at several local institutions, including Oakdale Nursing Home, Lifecare Center of Auburn, and St. Mary’s Health Care Center in Worcester. Most recently, she brought comfort and compassion to countless mothers and newborns during her decade-long tenure in the Maternity Unit at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus.
Outside of her professional life, JoNina found immense joy in the company of her family and took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home. She also found peace and beauty in tending to her garden, where she nurtured life with the same tender care she offered to those around her.
JoNina will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert E. Tetrault of Rutland; her son, Joseph Jones and his wife Kimberly of Florida; her daughter, Jaime Thibeault and her husband Peter of Florida; her step-children, Tami Rossi and her husband, Paul and their family of Connecticut and Todd Tetrault and his wife, Charlotte and their family of Colorado; her sister, Lynn Manino of Florida; and her adored grandchildren, Aidan, Ethan, Everly and Jedidiah. She was predeceased by her son, Justin Tetrault, in 2012.
