STERLING – Joanne Jones, 46, died unexpectedly in her home on Sunday March 20, 2011.
She was a lifelong resident of Sterling and the daughter of Jean B. Jones of Sterling and the granddaughter of Albert N. and Marguerite Brown. Joanne was a graduate of Monty Tech and was an administrative assistant to the president of Emuge USA in West Boylston where she worked for many years.
Joanne loved living in Sterling and Central Mass and took advantage of all the area had to offer. She was happily a frequent volunteer and contributor to several animal shelters in the greater Worcester area and has shared her time fundraising with friends to help her favorite organizations which benefitted Breast Cancer and Diabetes. Many people will remember Joanne as someone who always went out of her way to help out any way she could with a cheerful smile and positive attitude. A "foodie", she had a passion for cooking and baking, was a lover of animals and wildlife, and enjoyed travels to the Caribbean and Mexico, the Maine seacoast, working out with "the girls" at Curves as well as dinner and shows with friends.
Besides her Mom, she leaves three brothers that she adored; Greg Jones of Boston, Charlie Jones of Westminster and his girlfriend Kelly Downer of Sterling, David Jones and his wife Bonnie of Worcester; her nieces, Audrey and Liz Jones of Ashburnham; nephews, Chris and Brad Jones of Boston; her "second Mom" Brenda Day of Sterling; many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, co-workers and of course her wonderful kitty "TC". Joanne was predeceased by her father, Charles F. Jones of Bonneau Beach, SC and her sister-in-law, Carolyn A. Jones of Boston.
Friends are invited to visit the family on Friday, April 8, 2011 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will be with her grandparents at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sterling and will be private. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564.
