WORCESTER – Jonathan S. Sher, 65, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester.
Born in Worcester, Jon was the son of Irving “Red” and Dolores “Debbie” (Socher) Sher, the oldest of their four children.
Jon graduated from Doherty Memorial High School and worked as an electrical contractor in the family business. Years later, he retuned to college and earned an Associates Degree graduating with honors from Quinsigamond Community College. He also earned many technical certificates in the IT field and worked in the Information Technology department at UMASS Memorial Hospital.
Jon will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved sisters, Anna Sher of Seattle, Carolyn “Cari” McGill and her husband, Jim of Marshfield, and Elizabeth “Liz” Sher of Ashland; his cherished nieces, Molly Ciarcia and her husband, Nick, Maggie Gauthier and her husband, Roger, and Marisa McGill; and his special grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Bode, Kyle, Francesca and Benett.
Family and friends will gather to honor Jon’s memory at a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 9th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. There will be family visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Holy Society/Chevra Kadisha Cemetery, Havana Road, Leicester.
Immediately following the interment service, the family extends an invitation to a Memorial Observance Reception at Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive in Worcester until 5:30 PM. Memorial Observance will continue on Friday at the home of Liz Sher.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made at a charity of the donor’s choice.
