Holden - Jonathan M. Rudder, 50, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, July 24, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was born in Belleville, IL, the son of Jeanette (Spainhower) Rudder and Larry D. Rudder, Sr. and spent much of his adolescence in Granite City, IL.
Jonathan graduated from Cornerstone Christian School with the class of 1991. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English and creative writing from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and went on to earn a master’s degree in fine arts from Full Sail University in Florida. Jonathan began his teaching career at the former Becker College and for the last 9 years taught Writing for Games at Becker college and Clark University.
Jonathan had a lifelong passion for fantasy novels and was a gifted writer. He authored several fantasy novels including The Milhavior Chronicles series. Faith was central to Jonathan’s life, and he was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Shrewsbury where he leaves many dear friends and had served as music leader. Above all he was a loving husband, father, and son.
Jonathan will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 16 years, Rebecca L. (Blount) Rudder; his sons, Jon Matthew Lowe, Brenden A. Rudder and Ethan G.A. Rudder; his parents, Jeanette (Spainhower) and Larry D. Rudder, Sr. of IA; his brother, Larry Douglas Rudder, Jr. and his wife, Sheri of IA; his sister, Cynthia K. Deatherage and her husband, John of ID; his wife’s parents, Susan and Russell Pruett of FLA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring and celebrating Jonathan’s life at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
