BARRE - Jonathan Jay Boyce, 64, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St Vincent Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of John H. Jr and Lois M. (Milligan) Boyce and had lived in Barre since 2006.
He leaves his wife, Sebastiana (Souza) Boyce; his daughter, Cheyenne Fafard of Florida; his sister, Judith Boyce of San Diego, CA; and his beloved dog, Beauty.
Jay was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church throughout his life, enjoying the sense of community the church offered.
He owned and operated Boyce Healthcare Training, Inc. in Framingham and in Worcester. The certification program provided many students the solid skills necessary to begin their career in the medical field.
Jay's lifelong passion for learning, coupled with his interest in flying, compelled him to research and successfully build his first gyrocopter, The Gyro Bee, following instructions found on the internet. He was congratulated by the creator of the design of the project for his achievement. YouTube videos of Jay and his gyrocopter display his accomplishments in flight. He had plans to build a two-seater so Beauty could fly by his side.
A gathering of family and friends will meet for Jay at Chaffin Congregational Church in Holden in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue in Memphis, TN. Please stay connected for updates by emailing
