STERLING – John W. Stack, age 25, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Leominster Hospital. Born in Boston and raised in Norwell, John was the son of Paul J. and Catherine A. (Wiater) Stack and lived the last nine years in Sterling.
He was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School, class of 2015 where he excelled in cross country running. In his spare time, John looked forward to fishing, hiking, and running local trails and just simply enjoyed being outside with nature. He had a deep love for animals and found great comfort over the years spending time at home with his two beloved cats, “Joe and Ruby.”
John shared generously his heart-warming smile and great sense of humor with everyone. Most of all, John had a deep love for his family. He cherished the time they would spend together playing practical jokes on each other and enjoying family dinners and gatherings. His family recalls the sheer pleasure of his company, how good he made them feel; how free they were to be themselves, and how much they will miss him. Those who knew John, even just a little lost a shining light in their lives.
Besides his parents, Paul J. Stack and Catherine A. (Wiater) Stack both of Sterling, he will be lovingly missed by his two brothers, James P. Stack of Sterling and Paul J. Stack, Jr. of Holden; a sister, Catherine A. Stack of Holden; several cousins; and many treasured friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family from 9:00 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 14 at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd, Sterling, followed by a procession to St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will take place privately at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), PO Box 49104, Baltimore, MD 21297.
