HOLDEN - John M. Spellane, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on March 27, 1942, in Worcester, Massachusetts, John was the beloved son of John and Dorothy Spellane. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, and is survived by his brother, Michael, and sister, Janice.
John was a proud graduate of St. Peter Marian and furthered his education at Nichols College. His professional life was marked by a dedicated 34-year career in sales and sales management at Norton Company, where he forged deep relationships with his many colleagues and customers.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was an avid fisherman and golfer, passions that he pursued with enthusiasm throughout his life. A devoted fan of Boston sports, he found joy in supporting his favorite teams and sharing this love with those around him.
John's legacy extends beyond his professional and personal interests. He was a supportive father to John (Kim) and Marc (Kelly), and a grandparent to Oliva, Kate, Tucker and Spencer. His influence as a coach and friend left a lasting impact on many. Known for his positive interpersonal influence, John was a guiding force and a source of encouragement to all who knew him.
His life was a testament to the values of dedication, friendship, and family. John M. Spellane will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the indelible mark he left on the lives of those he touched. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 14th, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund online at
