RUTLAND – John J. Singel, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He was born in Johnstown, PA, the son of Anna (Singel) Gordon and had lived in Millbury and Florida before moving to Rutland four years ago.
He leaves a daughter, Karen A. Glinski and her husband, John of Rutland; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine M. (Donahue) Singel and a son, Richard Singel.
John served his country and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a shipper for many years, worked for Montrose Products in Auburn and later retired from Data General Corp in Marlborough.
The funeral for Mr. Singel will be held on Monday, December 8, with a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland Fire Brigade Rescue Fund, 240 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
