RUTLAND/WEST BOYLSTON - John H. Siequist, 66, was stricken ill and passed away at home on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. He was born in Waterbury, CT on May 11, 1951 to Gotfrid and Bernice (Valentine) Siequist and was a resident of West Boylston for 25 years before moving to Rutland with his family.
In 1986 he married his wife of 32 years, Jean (Vincent) Siequist. Besides his wife, John leaves two sons, Brian of Jefferson and Shaun and his wife, Shannon (Wholey) of Worcester; his sister, Ann (Siequist) Lange; his nephew, Christopher Lange; and his niece, Julie Locascio, all of Torrington, CT. He also leaves his very devoted sidekicks, Cooper and Baxter. More than just a friend to John and his family, he leaves behind Mike and Lisa Forte who know more than this could ever say in words what they mean to this family.
John moved to the Worcester area to begin a 30 year career for the Thom McAn Shoe Company. In 1999 he went to work for the BOSE Corporation until he retired in December of 2017. John loved taking care of his yard. He was very particular about having the perfect lawn in the summer and making sure he had every last leaf picked up in the fall....he hated those leaves!
During his 66 years John had a full life of blessings fueled by his love of family and providing a wonderful life for them, working a job he loved. He knew so many people and was loved by all. He thought the world of his wife and his sons. Jean was the love of his life and he hers. The boy's always went to him for advice no matter the question John always had an answer. John was a friend and mentor to everyone he worked with, always lending an ear to a friend in need. John leaves a big hole in everyone's heart and will be sorely missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for John will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 10, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston.
