WEST BOYLSTON – John “Jack” T. Morrilly, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Clinton Hospital after an illness. He was born in Uxbridge, MA, the son of Philip J. and Rita M. (McNamara) Morrilly. He lived in Fitchburg for many years before moving to West Boylston in 1996.
He leaves his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly C. (Johnson) Morrilly; his son, Phillip J. Morrilly and his wife, Anne of Merrimack, NH; his daughter, Katie Buchanan and her husband, Bucky of Westminster; his step-daughters, Lynn McQuoid and her husband, Sam of Bolton and Lisa McGovern and her fiance, Paul Danforth of Mashpee; his sisters, Joyce Desgroseilliers and her husband, Ronald of Pittsfield, Mary Mantyla and her late husband, Eric of Leominster; four grandchildren, Emily Buchanan, Sean Morrilly, and Ali and Sam McQuoid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his nephew, Michael Desgroseilliers.
Jack graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg, earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, and earned his master’s degree from Fitchburg State University. He enjoyed a 38-year career in education in the Fitchburg Public Schools, where he served as a guidance counselor at Memorial Middle School.
Jack was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs, Molly and Cooper. He was a devoted New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. In addition, he loved traveling, entertaining friends, as well as playing cards and reading a good book. He will be sadly missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Due to Covid-19 concerns and restrictions, appropriate social distancing and wearing of a mask is requested by the family during visiting hours and will be required during Mass. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452, or Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
