MILLBURY – John Ferguson McLean, 31, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 13, 2024. John was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Mary E. (Hennigan) McLean and the late Alexander McLean.
John attended St. Peter Central Catholic Elementary School and Burncoat High School, both in Worcester. At the time of his passing, John was employed with Diebold Nixdorf of Northborough, MA as a Field Service Technician. Prior to Diebold, John worked for Jeffco Fibres, Inc. in Worcester and Millbury, as a Shipping Coordinator.
John was a proud and grateful member of the Worcester area’s recovery community. He worked diligently to obtain his sobriety with the loving guidance and support of his sponsor(s) and many friends. John blossomed in and maintained his sobriety for the past six years, one day at a time. He loved the brotherhood and participated in frequent “commitments” giving his time, love and support to those still suffering. He gratefully gave back what he had been given.
John enjoyed music (especially “metal” and mosh pits!), weightlifting, ice cream, the ocean and spending time with family, especially his two-year-old daughter, Emma. She was his whole world and brought so much joy and laughter to his life! John had a bright beaming smile, a hearty, infectious laugh and a “hilarious” sense of humor.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his daughter, Emma Lynn Thibault of Holden; his mother, Mary McLean of Worcester; three brothers, Daniel Coomey and his wife, Jackeline of St. Petersburg, FL, Alex McLean and his wife, Alexa of Hopatcong, NJ and Stuart McLean of Pelham, NY; his aunt, Barbara Cote and her husband, Gerald of Holden, MA; his uncle, Frank Hennigan of Worcester, MA; his uncle, Paul Hennigan and his wife, Kathy of Manchester, MA; his aunt, Mildred Pirret of Scotland; his aunt Ruth McKechnie and her husband, Billy of South Carolina; his nieces, Kaileigh, Morgan, Cate, Mia, Reese and Mayla; his nephews, Casey, Cristian, Jose, Alexander, Alex and Mason; his cousins Bruce, Jean, Ritamary, Katherine, Jack, Melissa and Chrissy; and numerous friends, too many to mention here, but loved nonetheless. In addition to his father Alex McLean, John was predeceased by his sister, Yvonne McLean of Shrewsbury, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with his family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 22nd, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 23rd, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 400 Parker Road, Lancaster, MA.
