WORCESTER/PAXTON – John E. Lucey, 80, passed away at home on September 12, 2022. John was born in Worcester on October 29, 1941, the son of Harry F. and Josephine R. (O’Connor) Lucey. John lived in Worcester from August 2014 to present at the Willows in Worcester and in Paxton from 1972 to August 2014. He leaves a son, Dr. Timothy Lucey and his wife, Kristina of Amelia Island, FL; his daughters, Pamela Lucey, Esq. of Sturbridge, and Elizabeth Lucey of Auburn; his grandchildren, Caitlyn and Joseph Lucey and Josephine and Amelia Herlong; two sisters Phyllis K. Bissonnette and her husband, Albert J. Bissonnette of Auburn and Marilyn Lucey and her husband, Michael Broza of West Rutland, VT as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years Mary Elisabeth (Kenney) Lucey, his brother, Harry F. Lucey, Jr. and his sisters, Barbara A. (Lucey) Harrington and Diane M. (Lucey) Godin.

Mr. Lucey achieved a Bachelor of Science and Economics from Villanova University. He was the founder of New England Engine and Parts Warehouse, Inc., of Worcester, as well as an officer in two sister companies, Harry F. Lucey Co., Inc., and Engine Realty Trust both of Worcester. Mr. Lucey ran New England Engine and Parts Warehouse for over 35 years and then another two plus years for its successor, Sterling Bearing, Inc. of Kansas City, MO. Mr. Lucey was one of the founders and served many years on the Board of Directors of the Engine Parts Group, Inc. of Wheat Ridge, CO, the leading national organization in the engine parts industry.

Mr. Lucey served three 3-year terms on the Paxton Board of Selectmen, served many years on the Paxton Finance Committee as well as serving on other town committees. He was a past King Lion of the Paxton Lions Club, former chairman of the Paxton Town Republican Committee, past president of the Independent Garage Owner’s Association in Worcester, member of the Webster Square Merchants’ Association and was active in his church.

Upon retirement, John was an avid genealogy researcher and created a multigenerational pictorial reference for his family. John enjoyed providing service to others but loved being with friends and family, especially with his grandchildren.

While we are confident you are still with us, surrounding us with your guidance, love and laughter, your physical presence will be greatly missed by so many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the First Congregational Church in Holden. Burial to follow at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Corner Shop at The First Congregational Shop, 1180 Main St. Holden, MA 01520.
