Biography
HOLDEN – John R. Lonergan, 76, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at UMass Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Campus, after an illness. He leaves his loving wife of 44 years, Debra A. (Doyle) Lonergan; his two sons, Ian K. Lonergan of New York and Bryan M. Lonergan of Columbus, OH; his two brothers, James Lonergan of East Fairfield, VT and David Lonergan of Brattleboro, VT; his sister, Maryann Davis of Jefferson; his two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his grand-niece; two grand-nephews; and his beloved dog, Neeve.John was born in Worcester, the son of Roger H. and Doris M. (Jarvis) Lonergan and had lived in Oakham, West Boylston and finally in Holden for over 30 years. He was an Army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked for MWRA, previously the MDC, for thirty-one years before retiring in 2002.A memorial service for John will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A private committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, Inc., 111 Young Rd., P.O.
