HOLDEN - John M. Ligor, 82, formerly of Parker Road, died peacefully Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.
His wife of 59 years, Suzanne E. Ligor predeceased him in 2020. He leaves behind his two daughters, Amy E. Brandes and her husband, John of Plymouth, Kathleen A. Fors and her husband, Donald of Holden; two grandchildren, MacKenzie Brandes of Boston, Ryan Fors of Worcester, a sister-in-law, Ann Gaudette of Shrewsbury; and many nieces, nephews. Two sisters, Aurelia Tito and Marietta Koblara, and two brothers, William and Theodore, all predeceased him.
He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Stavre and Arsinoi (Qurkci) Ligor and was a graduate of Commerce High School.
John was a dedicated machinist and assembly technician at the former Heald Machine Company in Worcester. He was an avid golfer who played frequently at Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, as well as other local and Cape Cod courses. John was a long-time member of St. George’s Church in Worcester where he often volunteered a helping hand.
John kept an impeccable yard and house and enjoyed home projects including woodworking and crafting in his shop. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports and participate in school related activities. John loved learning and reading about history and was an avid WWII buff. He enjoyed vacationing with his extended Floridian family during the winter in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation for the loving care given by the Jewish Healthcare Center Third Floor Certified Nursing Assistants and Nurses, Hospice Services, and for the dedicated support from the Administrative Staff.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holden. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at
