HOLDEN – John J. Wrin, 74, of 175 High Street, Jefferson died on Friday, March 17, 2006 in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Barbara B. (Chase) Wrin; a son, Edward L. Wrin and his wife Izabel of Jefferson; and a brother, Edward F. Wrin of Worcester. He was born in Worcester the son of Edward and Mary J. (Alemida) Wrin and lived here all his life.
Mr. Wrin graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and was head laundryman at Worcester State Hospital in Worcester, retiring in 1979. He previously worked at St. Vincent Hospital, Rutland State Sanatorium and Rutland Heights Hospital. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, the Disabled American Veterans and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and was awarded four Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.
The funeral service for Mr. Wrin will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, 11 Vanderbilt Avenue, Suite 105, Norwood, MA 02062.
