HOLDEN – John J. O’Connor, 67, of 113 Mark Bradford Drive, was peacefully called home in the presence in his loving family on Thursday, September 29, 2005 in the VNA Hospice Residence in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 17 years, Karen (Lindgren) O’Connor; a daughter, Megan Reumann and her husband Wallace of Worcester; two sons, Timothy O’Connor and his wife Christine of Rogers, Minnesota and David Scott Hill of Holden; two brothers, Thomas O’Connor of Chelmsford and Walter O’Connor of Andover; five grandchildren, Patrick and Katherine Reumann, Matthew, Nathan and Samantha O’Connor; numerous nephews and nieces. A brother, Francis O’Connor, and a sister, Mary O’Connor, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester the son of Thomas J. and Mary T. (O’Connor) O’Connor and lived many years in Holden.
John graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1955 and from the College of the Holy Cross in 1960. He retired this past May from Fidelity Investments in Marlboro where he was a Senior Pension Manager. Previously he worked 28 years for the former State Mutual Life Assurance Company, now Allmerica Financial in Worcester.
John will best be remembered for his unconditional love of his immediate and extended family both here and abroad; as an avid gardener; for his keen intelligence, quick wit, and sense of humor; and as a blessing to all who knew him.
The funeral for John will be held on Monday, October 3, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, in the funeral home.
