HOLDEN – John J. Lufkin, Sr., 79, of 68 Miles Avenue in the Jefferson section of Holden, died on Monday, June 13, 2005, in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth June (McLaughlin) Lufkin; a son, John J. Lufkin, Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Sandra Laffin of Worcester; and two grandchildren, John Lufkin and Patricia Lufkin. He was born in Spencer, son of Raymond and Anna (LaTown) Lufkin, and lived most of his life in Jefferson. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Lufkin worked 20 years at Rutland Heights Hospital. Previously he worked for Dusberg & Bosson Company in Jefferson. He was an avid fisherman.
The funeral for Mr. Lufkin will be held on Thursday, June 16, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, in the funeral home.
