LANCASTER – John M. Helfrick, 70, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 23, 2017. He grew up in Manchester CT, the son of Francis and Sylvia M. (Merrill) Helfrick.
He leaves his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara (Busteed) Helfrick; his son, Mark N. Helfrick and his wife, Rachael; his daughter, Bethany R. Walker and her husband, John; 3 grandchildren, Eliot, Charlotte and Alice; 5 sisters, Elizabeth Barnard, Sylvia Smith, Margaret Helfrick, Dorothy Helfrick and Christina Baldwin; and many nieces and nephews.
John was a senior computer programmer at St. Vincent Hospital for 24 years before retiring in August of this year. He was a member of the Lancaster Friends of the Nashua River and was treasurer for Nashua River Green-Rainbow. He was a talented pianist and enjoyed flying kites.
Family and friends are invited to visit with John’s family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 27, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd, Sterling. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., October 28, in Hope Chapel, 35 Chocksett Rd, Sterling.
