HOLDEN - John Francis Crystoff, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 25, 2015. He was born January 17, 1923 in Holden, the second son of John Crystoff and Annie V. (Dominitis) Crystoff. He left the Worcester Boys Trade carpentry program early to enlist in the Navy during WWII. As a diesel engine mechanic on an LST, he arrived at Normandy on D-Day plus one. He was a partner in the Fox Lounge and owned the Red Barn Theater, both in Westborough, while also working with his father to build Holden Suburban Supply Company. He lived in Holden in the home he built for his family on Eagle Lake until moving to Tatnuck Park in Worcester. He loved to spend time outside and to fish, especially in Alaska.
His beloved wife, Marjorie (Nash) Crystoff, predeceased him in 2004. He leaves his children, Jo-Anne Crystoff (Guy Hermann) of Mystic, CT, Susan C. Osborne of North Brookfield and James J. Crystoff of Kodiak Island, AK; two grandsons, Daniel Reilly of Broomfield, CO and Griffin Reilly of Cambridge; a brother, William Crystoff of Holden; a niece and nephews.
Coffee and a calling hour will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland St., Holden, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the church with burial at Grove Cemetery, Holden.
