WORCESTER – John Christopher Lowder (known as “Chris”), age 68, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Clarence “Skip” H. Quillia and Dorothea E. Lowder.
Chris graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester in 1971 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Worcester State College. He worked in information technology for several local insurance companies, including State Mutual Insurance and Paul Revere Insurance, and more recently in member services at the Greendale Family Branch YMCA in Worcester.
In his spare time, Chris enjoyed reading, playing guitar and listening to his impressive collection of records. He was a loyal supporter of his Boston sports teams, specifically the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. Chris was well known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He also never shied away from a political debate.
Chris leaves his three children; Amy Campbell and her husband, John of Worcester, Scott Lowder and his wife, Christine of Scotch Plains, NJ, Greg Lowder of Arlington, MA; his former wife and mother of his children, Sharon (Gosselin) Lowder; a sister, Andrea Crisafulli and her husband, Anthony of West Roxbury; five grandchildren, Travis and Chelsea Campbell, and Caroline, Isabel and Charlie Lowder; and many cousins. Besides his parents, Chris is predeceased by his son Joshua Charles Lowder.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chris’s family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, December 9th at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A memorial service will be held the same day at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with burial following at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester.
