HOLDEN – John “Chip” J. Carbone, Jr., 58, of 420 Main St. died peacefully in his home on Friday, August 26, 2005, with his wife and mother by his side.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Dawn Carbone; his mother, Gloria A. (Grampetro) Carbone and his father, John J. Carbone, Sr. both of Holden; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins; an extended family of very close friends and his faithful dog, “Shorty”. His sister, Cynthia A. Maher of Stowe, Vermont, died in 2003. He was born in Worcester and lived most of his life in Holden.
John graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden and worked 20 years for Reed Rico in Holden, retiring in 2004. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and participated in many drag races. He enjoyed the outdoors including, camping, boating, hunting, target shooting and snow mobiling. He was a member of the Rutland Sportsman’s Club and many local veteran associations. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and served at Bien Hoa, Vietnam during the Tet Offensive on January 31, 1968.
The funeral service for John will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A visitation period will be held in the funeral home from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Care Network (Hospice), 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
