John W. Carter

September 26, 1935 — April 14, 2016

HOLDEN - John W. Carter, 80, of Arizona Ave., Holden, died on Thursday, April 14, 2016, after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Shirley R. (Grenier) Carter of Holden.



Mr. Carter retired in 2000 from Signet Electronics, Inc. in Norwell where he was employed as an electronics project manager. He worked 31 years with Integrated Communications Systems (formerly Walters Communication) in Worcester and Shrewsbury as a technician and operations manager.



He served 23 years in the Air Force as an electronics technician and superintendant, including five years in Europe and two tours in Vietnam. After 10 years of active duty, he served 13 years with the Air National Guard, 212th Electronic Installation Squadron on Skyline Drive in Worcester, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1987.



He made electronic engineering trips to Iceland, Newfoundland, Florida and Nebraska and surveyed and designed the base wide P.A. System for Eielson AFB in Alaska.



Funeral arrangements are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
