RUTLAND - John B. Wilcomb, 55, of 3 Rufus Putnam Place, died Monday, May 10, 2004, in his home following a long battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 32 years, Marie A. (Savage) Wilcomb; a son, Daniel J. and his wife Carolyn J. Wilcomb; a daughter, Kimberly M. and her husband Wayne A. Boucher Jr.; two grandchildren, Brayden J. Wilcomb and Dominic K. Boucher, all of Worcester; his parents, John E. and Jean B. (Briggs) Wilcomb; two brothers, Charles Wilcomb and David Wilcomb all of Bar Harbor, Maine. He was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, and was a graduate of Beal College.
John served in the Army during Vietna. After which he worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 26 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and served as Deacon and was also active with the Royal Rangers. John rode his bike in the Pan Mass Challenge in August of 2003 to raise money for Cancer and was hoping to ride again this year.
John’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2004 in the First Assembly of God, 30 Tyler Prentice Road, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2004 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
