Biography
WORCESTER - Joel Robbins, 73, of Westborough, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Friday, August 28th, in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born in Worcester the son of the late Edwin and Evelyn (Wilson) Robbins.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Judith (Sobel) Robbins of Boynton Beach, FL; two daughters, Jennifer Robbins, wife of Michael Wolf of Vancouver, BC, and Melissa Robbins, wife of Daniel Mahr of Westborough; two brothers, Alan Robbins and his wife, Jerye Anne, and Paul Robbins and his wife, Eileen; four grandchildren whom he adored, Megan, Ian, Jacob, and Abigail.
Joel grew up in Worcester. He met Judith when he was 16 and they have been inseparable ever since. He had a group of friends in Worcester affectionately called the “Crazy Eight,” and the group has remained friends over the years. He graduated from North High School in Worcester in 1960 where he participated in several varsity sports. Joel graduated from Clark University in Worcester in 1964, and joined Alan Corporation with his father after graduation.
Joel was president of Alan Corporation and later Aalanco Service Corporation for 40 years. Over the years he has had many loyal employees whom he considered his friends. Joel was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast; he and his wife travelled many miles all over the country. Joel was an active member and Past Master of the Level Lodge of Masons in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He was a Big Brother for four years. Skiing and golf were his passions.
Joel had Parkinson’s disease for 20 years, and he was always fighting to maintain his dignity.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 12:00 NOON ON MONDAY, AUGUST 31ST , IN CONGREGATION B’NAI SHALOM, 117 EAST MAIN STREET, WESTBOROUGH. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.
Memorial Observance will be held through Monday evening, August 31st, from 3pm to 5pm and 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, September 1st, at the residence of Melissa and Daniel Mahr, 2 Olde Connecticut Path, Westborough, MA 01581.
