Watertown/Wilmington – Joanne (Tsolas) Martinos, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus in Worcester. Born in Cambridge to the late Emil and Beatrice (Patselelis) Tsolas, Joanne was a tremendously gentle, warm, kind and loving spirit who will be deeply missed.
A graduate of Watertown High School, Joanne returned to college in her 50s and proudly earned her Bachelor’s degree from Regis College. This achievement was a testament to her perseverance and strength. After many years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Joanne transitioned back into the workforce following the passing of her beloved husband, George. She forged a successful career as an Executive Secretary at AlarmSaf Co., where her professionalism and warm demeanor earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Joanne’s strength was matched only by her immense kindness. She found deep fulfillment in her faith and her church communities, serving as a devoted member of Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown and Annunciation Parish in Woburn. Whether singing in the choirs, volunteering in the church bookstore, or contributing to the work of The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Joanne’s faith and heart for service shone brightly.
More than anything, Joanne cherished her family. She was a source of unwavering love, comfort, and joy, especially to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. Her compassion, generosity, and grace touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and her legacy of love and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband, George D. Martinos. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sophia Morin, and her husband, Chad, of Worcester; her brother, John Tsolas and his wife, Robin, of Plymouth; her sister, Stella Pathiakis of Acton; and her cherished grandson, Luke Morin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
