WORCESTER - Joanne (Bakes) Bulkley, 82, of Worcester, formerly of Holden passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Her husband, John M. Bulkley died in 2001. Born in Larchmont, NY, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Neofotistos) Bakes, Joanne graduated from Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for more than 45 years at numerous medical facilities that included the UMASS Medical Center, Providence House, and the Lutheran Day Health Center.
Joanne was a devoted and faithful member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral for 45 years. She will be remembered for the positive energy she shared with her family and friends. She was a selfless, loving, and compassionate mother and grandmother, who was devoted to her family.
She leaves two daughters, Barbra A. Guiliotis and her husband, Gregg of Orange, CT; and Ann E. Bulkley-Armour and her husband, Michael of Shrewsbury; a son, David M. Bulkley of Westborough; two brothers, George Bakes of Boca Raton, FL, and Nicholas Bakes and his wife, Patricia of Hamden, CT; a sister, Patricia Loskant and her husband, Robert of Monroe, CT; two granddaughters, Kathryn E. and Grace A. Armour of Shrewsbury. A sister, Helen Zapherson and her husband Dino of Norwalk, CT predeceased her.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 4-7 PM in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Joanne will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester with the Rev Fr. Dimitrios Moraitis and the Very Rev. Fr. Dean N. Paleologos officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
