HOLDEN - Joan M. (Vancelette) Pingeton, 81, of West View St., died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Mrs. Pingeton was born in Worcester, the daughter of Roy and Rita (Oliver) Vancelette and lived in Holden for over 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Pingeton; two daughters, Joan Marie Pingeton and Diane Pingeton a.k.a. Hari Kirin Kaur Khalsa and her husband Peter Gray; a sister, Barbara (Vancelette) Fisher; two grandchildren, Anna and Zak Lindgren; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pingeton graduated from North High School in Worcester and earned her Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts from Boston University School of Fine Arts. She later worked as a secretary to the personnel manager at the Reed Roll Thread Co. in Holden. Mrs. Pingeton also worked in the acquisitions department at the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester for over 20 years. She was an accomplished artist and her oil paintings were exhibited in Holden as well as South Yarmouth. She was a member of St. George Church in Worcester and taught C.C.D. She was devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving caregiver to many family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 13, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
