Joan (Reynolds) Stimson

PRINCETON - Joan (Reynolds) Stimson, 79, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness. She was born on a dairy farm in Sherburne, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Reynolds.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles Stimson; two stepsons, David Stimson and his wife, Michelle of Swansea and Stephen Stimson and his wife, Lauren of Princeton; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Stimson of Princeton; nine grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister, Susan Frair and her husband, Frank of Sherburne, NY; three brothers, Don Reynolds and his wife, Vicki of Oxford, NY, Phil Reynolds and his wife, Rita of Ballston Spa, NY and Russ Reynolds of Sherburne, NY. Joan was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest Lintern; a beloved niece, Scarlet Gies; a sister, Judith Gies of Rome, NY; two stepsons, Craig and Christopher Stimson; as well as her greatly-missed granddaughter, Elizabeth, who died at age 18.
Joan graduated from Earlville High School in 1957 and attended business school in Syracuse. She worked for ten years for SCM before moving to Princeton. With her husband, Charles and four stepsons, she ran the Stimson Dairy Farm. She played an important role helping to bale hay during the summer months and enjoyed gardening on the farm. She always loved her hikes up to Brown Hill through the woods behind the farm with her grandchildren and her cats following behind. Joan was also an avid photographer with several prize-winning photos of life around the farm. She loved baseball and was a devoted Red Sox fan. She enjoyed keeping scorebooks at her sons’ Little League games and was the pitcher during the family games on the farm.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 14 Mountain Road, Princeton, MA 01541. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Princeton. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
