HOLDEN- Joan C. Mazzer of Holden died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 8, 2023. Born on November 4, 1933 in Pittsfield, MA, Joan was the daughter of Mildred (Gould) Card and Clifford H. Card.
Lovingly known as Mimi, she is survived by her daughter Bonnie White (David) of Holden with whom she made her home, sons James Mazzer (Barb), Mark Mazzer, and daughter-in-law Ellen Mazzer of Pittsfield, MA. Mimi is also survived by ten grandchildren: Kate Brazeau (Jeremy), Matthew Mazzer (Aleah), David White (Michelle), Bryan White, Regina Haynes (Dan), Ashley Thorpe (Godfrey), Tyra Mazzer, Ryan Pires, Kyle Pires (Patrick), and Makayla Mazzer. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Mary Card and her four daughters, a close circle of her treasured Dunkin Donuts friends, and extended family members. Joan was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Lee, who also died on December 8, in 1958, her son Timothy, and her brother Clifford Card.
Joan graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1951 and raised her family in Pittsfield, MA. In 1992, Joan moved to make her home in Holden. She quickly gained a wide circle of friends while working in corporate dining services, bowling, and through her daily visits to Dunkin Donuts. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and she would not make any plans that conflicted with games during football season. Joan will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her great sense of humor, and her wonderful fashion sense which she maintained until the very end.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 16th at 9:00 am at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint George Parish, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial in Pittsfield, MA at a later date will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
