Joan Louise (Leblanc) Youngstrom

HOLDEN – Joan Louise (LeBlanc) Youngstrom, 74, of Holden passed peacefully from this life on May 24, 2006.
She was born on May 27, 1931, in Worcester, the daughter of Arthur L. and Celima M. (Beaudin) LeBlanc, was raised in the Greendale section of Worcester until marring Norman Youngstrom, her husband of 54 years, in 1951. Joan was a loving mother and wife, who placed her family above all else. She was an avid gardener, painter, woodcarver, antique collector and reader, actively enjoying all these hobbies until her recent hospitalization. Joan also enjoyed traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people. Together with her husband, they cleared land and built the family home in Holden where they raised their family. She was a capable seamstress and decorator, always trying new handicrafts and art projects. Flowers and gardening gave her great pleasure throughout her life.
Joan was always very proud and supportive of her three children and their families. She is survived by her husband Norman Youngstrom of Holden; two daughters, Gail Truedson and husband David of Oakham and Anne Greene and her husband Marty of Rutland; a son, Mark Youngstrom and his wife Connie of Shrewsbury, Vermont; and her five grandchildren, David, Holly, Marc, Alexis and Gunnar, were very special to her.
The funeral service for Joan will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 29, in the funeral home. Those wishing to share a small perennial plant from their garden in which will be planted by her family in Joan’s garden, may feel free to do so. Memorial donations may be made the American Lung Association of Central Massachusetts, 393 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01105; or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
