STERLING – Joan H. (Kosewski) Wood, 76, of Laurelwood Rd., died peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Kindred Transitional and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. Joan was born in Clinton the daughter of Stanley and Gladys (Holka) Kosewski and lived 51 years in Sterling.
Her husband of 45 years, William "Woody" G. Wood died in 2005. She leaves and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Laura J. Praderio and her husband Paul of Grafton; two sons, William R. Wood and his wife Pauline of Sterling, and Robert A. Wood and his wife Tracy of Grafton; a brother, Thomas Kosewski and his wife Ellen of Sterling; a sister in-law, Beth Kosewski of Berlin; eight grandchildren, Kristina, Jessica, Michael, Thomas, Caroline, Rocco, Colin and Julia; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a daughter, Linda J. Wood and a brother, Stanley Kosewski.
Joan worked for Foster Grant in Leominster for over 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, camping with her family, searching for yard sales and playing bingo with her longtime friends Nancy, Anita and "the girls". Joan's passion was caring for her family, most of all her eight grandchildren, whom she spoiled endlessly. She was a wonderful mother and friend and all who knew her would agree that the world is a brighter place because of her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 9, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd, Sterling. A funeral service celebrating Joan's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
