FITCHBURG - Joan E. Billiter passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was born in Gardner and was the daughter of Joseph F. LeBlanc and Gladys V. (Putnam) LeBlanc.
Joan loved her family. She leaves her beloved partner, Joseph C. Dwyer; her two children, Charles Billiter and his wife Sarah, Renata Billiter Wiggin and her husband, Phillip; three grandchildren, James A. W. Shaw and his partner Lenka Phelps, Tyler Billiter and his fiancée Ashley, and Meredith Billiter and her partner Ryan; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Shaw.
Joan was a homemaker for many years before returning to work, spending 20 years at Simonds Saw and Steel, Fitchburg. She is a longtime member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, Fitchburg.
When her children were young, Joan volunteered for many years with the Pioneer Girls Club and the Christian Service Brigade at Highland Baptist Church, Fitchburg. In the later years, Joan became an avid genealogist, researching her family's history back to the 1600's. She made many lifelong friends with fellow genealogists.
Joan loved spending time with her children's many pets over the years. She affectionately called them her "fur grandkids."
The family would also like to thank Dr. John Schneeweis and his fantastic team for the wonderful care provided to Joan over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a funeral service at 11 a.m on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd. (Route 12) Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Rd, Sterling. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Sterling.
