N. PROVIDENCE, RI – Joan A. Ferreri, 87, of N. Providence, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Joan was the daughter of Peter and Viola (McElroy) Ferreri and lived 50 years in the Providence area.
She leaves a sister, Ruth F. Osgood of Paxton; niece, Ruth Ann Davis and her husband Richard of Paxton; and Peter N. Osgood of Westborough; grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Peter J. Ferreri, a sister, Rita M. Ferreri and a niece, Terry Marston.
Joan graduated from Columbia University in 1951 with a degree in occupational therapy. She furthered her studies at the University of Southern California where she received her master's degree in occupational therapy in 1961. Joan retired in 1994 from the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island as a case manager and head of the occupational therapy department. She was a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, at St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Ave., Paxton. Burial will be held privately in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, New Jersey.
