HOLDEN – Joan A. (Chestnut) Dubois, 97, formerly of 93 Cook Street, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her husband of 64 years, Arthur N. Dubois, Sr., died in 1999. She leaves a son, George H. Dubois and his wife, Janice of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Jennifer L. Dubois of Worcester, Jason E. Dubois of Holden, and David A Frazer of Winchendon; two nephews, Russell and Kenneth Carpenter of Cumberland, Rhode Island; two nieces, Beverly Bannon of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Constance Smith of Seekonk. A son, Arthur N. Dubois, Jr., and two sisters, Helen Cavanaugh and Rose Carpenter, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of George and Anthonia (Saluta) Chestnut, and lived here in Holden for 37 years.
Mrs. Dubois graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Business School both in Worcester. She was a Teletype operator for Carter-Rice Paper Company in Worcester and later taught Ceramics at her home. She was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and the Friends of Holden Council on Aging.
The funeral for Mrs. Dubois will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2004, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 29, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Church, Memorial Fund, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
