WORCESTER/WEST BOYLSTON – Jo-Ann Marie Forhan, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 4, 2018 after an 8 years struggle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Jo-Ann was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph R. Ambrose and Anne Marie Murphy. Her beloved husband, John “Red” Forhan passed away in 1994.Gram loved spending time with her family, winters in Florida and planning family parties. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Parish and enjoyed volunteering at the West Boylston Senior Center. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, John Forhan and his wife, Denise of West Boylston; her 5 daughters including, Karen Nishan and her husband, Tom of Worcester, Kathy Kittredge and her husband, Michael of West Boylston, Jo-Ann Cooke of West Boylston, Diane Forhan of Worcester and Dawn Miller and her husband, Russell of West Boylston; a sister, Carlene Troio and her husband, Tony of West Boylston; Debra Smalanskas of Holden, who was like a daughter to her; her best friend, Jo-Ann Cesary of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Jo-Ann’s family for calling hours from 4 to 7 on Monday, May 7th at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, May 8th at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barton Center for Education, Inc., P.O. Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537 and designate Clara Barton Resident Camp for Girls or Camp Joslin for Boys.
