HOLDEN – Donald J. Kneeland, Sr., 81, of Steele St., died at home on Friday, July 10, 2009.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Betty L. (Horstman) Kneeland; a son, Donald J. Kneeland, Jr. of Holden; two daughters, Elisabeth A. Dacri and her husband Jeffrey of Holden and Katherine E. DeLuca and her husband Wayne of Marlborough; a grandson, Kevin J. Dacri of Holden; a sister, Doris Norenberg of Grafton; and many nephews and nieces. Six sisters and three brothers predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Austin B. and Katherine E. (Rourke) Kneeland, and has lived in Holden for the last 47 years.
Donald was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, serving as a demolition instructor during the Korean War. He worked for National Glass Co. in Worcester for 43 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member and former Trustee at Chaffin Congregational Church and ran their flea markets for many years. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandson play baseball.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Donald will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15th, in Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Holden.
