HOLDEN – Mary J. (Harrington) Gardner, 77, of Pleasant Street, died Friday, January 22, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Allan Gardner; two sons, Dr. James A. Gardner, Jr. and his partner Al Capozzi of Foxboro and William E. Gardner and his wife Julie of Jefferson; two daughters, Linda A. Bottcher and her husband David of Holden and Ann M. Prince and her husband Gary of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Arlyn, Andrew, Sarah, Abigail, Katherine, Lauren, Sean, Colleen and Nicholas; and many nephews and nieces. Five brothers, Edward, Henry, James, Joseph and Gary Harrington, and two sisters, Jeanette Carlson and Ann D. Harrington, predeceased her.
Mary was born and raised in Holden, a daughter of Edward D. and Alice J. (Beeso) Harrington, and lived in Holden her entire life. She graduated Holden High School in 1950 and attended nursing school in Boston. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church. She loved being a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26th, in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
