S Pauline J. (Gingras) Cloutier

July 20, 1930 — November 18, 2009

HOLDEN – Pauline J. (Gingras) Cloutier, 79, of General Hobbs Road, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

Her husband, William Quance died in 2002. She leaves four sons, Stephen R. Cloutier and his wife Cheryl of Townsend, Matthew W. Cloutier and his wife Nancy of Hubbardston, David W. Cloutier and his wife Patricia Mahoney of Rogers Forge, MD and Daniel R. Cloutier and his wife Glenda of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; a brother, William P. Gingras, Jr. of Worcester; five grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Abigail, Mitchell and Aiden Cloutier; and nephews and nieces. A brother, Robert Gingras and a sister, Evelyn Halpin Harrington, predeceased her.

Pauline was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of William P. and Regina (Kelley) Gingras, Sr. and lived 40 years in Holden. She was a graduate of Worcester State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and received her Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from New Hampshire College. For 12 years, she was a social worker for the Department of Social Services in Worcester. She previously worked for various social service agencies in the Worcester area. She was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she served as a lay minister. She was an active member of the Pakachoag Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as a star point.

Pauline was a highly active person and enjoyed hiking and white river rafting all around the world. She also enjoyed cross country skiing, swimming and ping pong. She was significantly involved in Wachusett Greenways and in the design and construction of the rail trails throughout the area.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 21st, in All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wachusett Greenways, P.O. Box 121, Holden, MA 01520.
