RUTLAND – Jeffrey M. Bellrose, 70, passed away at home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family and close friends who loved and respected him. He was born in Holden, the son of Ernest “Pete” J. and Florence “Bonnie” E. (Dransfield) Bellrose and had lived in Holden before moving to Rutland.
He leaves a brother, Richard J. Bellrose and his wife, Laura of Brady, MT;
two sisters, Kathleen A. Johnson of Holden and Marilyn D. Bell and her husband, Alan of Rutland; 5 nieces, 2 nephews, 5 grandnieces, 4 grandnephews; 1 great-great grandniece; 4 great-great grandnephews; and his beloved cat, Amy.
Mr. Bellrose graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1963, Assumption College, Quinsigamond Community College and Northeastern University. Jeffrey was a nurse practitioner for the Massachusetts DYS for troubled teens in Westborough and he also worked as a registered nurse at the Devereux School in Rutland. After retiring, Jeffrey still kept up to date on all the latest medical news and advances in his field and liked to volunteer at the Rutland Flu Clinic.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Bellrose family on Tuesday, July 21, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Church Free Medical Clinic, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545, or Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
