WORCESTER – Jean H. (Hubbard) Midwood, 82, of Worcester, formerly of Holden, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 in the Adams House in Fall River.
Her husband of 53 years, Douglas Midwood, died in 2002. She leaves a son, John D. Midwood and his wife Joan of Wrentham; two daughters, Janet Ulz Cortes and her husband Benjamin of Worcester and Michele M. Secatore and her husband Walter of Hanson; and 3 grandchildren, Jordan Ulz, Michael and Matthew Secatore.
Mrs. Midwood was born in Springfield and raised in East Longmeadow, the daughter of Clyde T. and Marjorie (Manning) Hubbard, and lived 35 years in Holden and 20 years in Worcester before recently moving to Fall River. She was a graduate of East Longmeadow High School and La Salle Jr. College. She volunteered for 20 years transcribing books into Braille for the blind, volunteered for 10 years at the Rutland State Hospital, was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden and a long time volunteer of its Corner Shop. She was also a member of the Holden Women's Club. Her passions were genealogy and her love of animals. She enjoyed knitting, traveling and crocheting.
A private funeral service for Mrs. Midwood will be held in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210; or the First Congregational Church of Holden, Memorial Fund, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
